A dental check is much more comprehensive than most people are aware. During your exam we do not only check the teeth but also the gums, tongue, lips, cheeks, tonsils, jaw joints and head/neck for any potential problems.

What happens at a Dental Check-up?
At each check-up, your dentist will:
- Ask about your general health and any problems you’ve had with your teeth, mouth or gums since your last visit.
- Ask about, and give you advice on, your diet, smoking and alcohol use, and teeth-cleaning habits.
- Examine your head and neck for signs of cancer.
- Assess the health of your jaw joints.
- Examine not only your teeth but your gums and remaining soft tissues in your mouth.
- Take necessary x-rays to assess the inside of your teeth, roots, and bone levels.
- Reach an accurate diagnosis and formulate a bespoke treatment plan tailored to your needs.
- Help arrange your next appointments with our reception team.
How often do I need a check-up?
Most people will require a check-up and hygienist around twice a year although some may require more or less depending on their specific oral health requirements. Even if you’re not experiencing any dental problems, check-ups provide an opportunity for us to deliver bespoke preventative advice and to pick up any issues in their early stages. This way we can minimise the need for any intervention and ensure your oral health is well-maintained in the long term.
